Based in New York City, Jeff McGregor Music publishes transcriptions and analysis of contemporary jazz artists. The label launched in 2017 with the publication of a comprehensive companion to Chris Potter's 2017 ECM release, The Dreamer is the Dream. This project was prepared in advance of the release and in collaboration with Chris Potter.
Jeff writes the SmallsLIVE Workshop Blog featuring transcriptions and interviews of Smalls artists. In 2016, Jeff published a transcription project for Alan Ferber's Grammy nominated album Roots and Transitions. His work has won growing critical recognition and was recently mentioned on pianist and writer Ethan Iverson's blog.
As a saxophonist, Jeff maintains an active schedule as both a leader and a sideman. In 2017 he released his debut album Leap featuring jazz greats Billy Drummond and Alan Ferber. In 2016, he graduated from New York University and currently lives in New York City.
